Anyone who's cut up an old t-shirt or towel for shop rags knows the problem: scissors chew through fabric unevenly, blades slip, and you end up with a pile of frayed, uneven strips instead of clean rags. It's a small annoyance, but it happens often enough that it's worth solving properly.
That's what the Rag Cutter is for.
What it does
The Rag Cutter is a compact, 3D-printed blade holder designed to mount directly to your workbench or shelving and give you a clean, repeatable cut every time. Feed the fabric through, pull, and you get a straight cut with no fraying and no mess — no scissors, no guesswork.
It fits standard Stanley blades and Safety Razor blades, so you're not locked into a proprietary blade system. When it dulls, swap it out with something you can buy at any hardware store.
Two ways to mount it
We built the Rag Cutter with two mounting options, depending on how your workshop is set up:
Screw Mount — bolts straight to your workbench for a solid, vibration-free fix. If your bench takes a beating, this is the option that won't budge.
Bunnings Rack-It (1000kg) Shelf Mount — pegs directly onto Bunnings' Rack-It 1000kg shelving. If your workshop is already built around that shelving system, this version clips straight on with no drilling required.
Both versions are AU$39 and hold the same cutting mechanism — the only difference is how it attaches to your space.
Why we made it this way
A cutting tool that isn't fixed down is a cutting tool that eventually slips, and a slipping blade near your hands is exactly what you don't want in a workshop. Every part of the Rag Cutter's design — the compact footprint, the mounting points, the blade housing — is built around keeping the tool exactly where you put it, cut after cut.
It's designed and manufactured right here in Australia by Zero Labs, in keeping with the rest of our workshop tool lineup: practical, no-frills gear that solves one problem well.
